Merode Castle is one of the most impressive Renaissance water castles in the Rhineland and is, along with its park, open to visitors during Advent season. Over the past years, the "Romantic Christmas Market", which is based on the roots of the traditional, contemplative Christmas, has gained an international reputation. With its successful mix of traditional handicrafts and selected gastronomy, romantic light installations, open fireplaces and the impressively illuminated castle, the market offers a unique atmosphere.
